Mira

The land under Mira exists because the Embarcadero Freeway came down after the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake. Every floor's bay windows rotate slightly from the floor beneath, which is what produces the twist you see from the street and also means the unit layouts change as the tower rises. The parcel was allowed an extra 100 feet of height, reaching 400 feet, after the developer agreed that 40 percent of the homes would be below market rate.
